This week we're CELEBRATING NO MORE POTHOLES ON ARMOUR DRIVE @ UNDERPASS AND CHESHIRE BRIDGE IS FINALLY FULLY OPEN!!!

Our volunteer organization dedicates over 30+ hours to infrastructure issues within our community that impact businesses each month.  Working with the City of Atlanta is a slow, steady process and the number of businesses within our organization makes a difference when we're advocating for changes.

Thank you for supporting the PiHi Alliance. If you appreciate the difference we're making for your business, please consider joining by paying for membership by the month. Annual membership is also available.

    JOIN AND PAY ONLINE

    ARMOUR DRIVE POTHOLES ARE GONE!!
Thank you to Atlanta Department of Transportation!

We appreciate all of your patience over the past years as we worked to find a more sustainable solution to the dangerous ongoing potholes on Armour Drive at the underpass. Perseverance pays off!

This is a TEMPORARY solution to the LONG TERM PLAN to replace the storm water drain system and repave the entire Armour Drive curve at the underpass with concrete within the next 12-18 months.

We understand it's not perfect as there is still some standing water. Be assured, no more tire busting potholes lurk below the surface!!

Thank you to PiHi Alliance members Christ CovenantCappella Cheese and Armour Yards for providing us with updates and photos!

NEXT STEP: LANE STRIPING WILL HAPPEN WITHIN THE NEXT 14 DAYS!
We've been assured this will happen before SweetWater 420 Fest
on Saturday April 22nd at the Brewery.

    SEE MORE ATL311 WINS!

    CHESHIRE BRIDGE IS FULLY OPEN!

It's been a tough few years for Cheshire Bridge businesses with the bridge being under construction. The PiHi Alliance worked with ATLDOT and District 6 councilmember Wan to make sure the bridge was opened as soon as possible from the minute it burned down in August 2021.

    • We started a petition, continuously called and emailed the City, communicated construction updates, discounted membership to Cheshire Bridge businesses, installed 5 banners promoting Cheshire Bridge corridor businesses and attended the first milestone ribbon cutting of one lane opening in October 2022.
    • Thank you to ATLDOT and District 6 for keeping this project on track and completing on schedule!!

We are so pleased to be celebrating with all of you this joyous occasion of a new, full open bridge connecting all the businesses of Cheshire Bridge from Piedmont to LaVista!!

We're celebrating a BIG WIN!! The PiHi Alliance has dedicated three years of working with Atlanta Department of Transportation and Department of Watershed to find a long term solution to the never ending potholes and flooding on Armour Drive at the underpass heading to Armour Yards.

THIS WEEKEND: The first step will be completed!! * Weather Permitting!!

    ARMOUR DRIVE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

    FRIDAY, MARCH 24-SUNDAY, MARCH 26

    9AM-6PM

Atlanta Department of Transportation will be in active construction THIS WEEKEND starting Friday March 24th @ 9am. ATLDOT will be removing the major potholes and replacing with large concrete patches on Armour Drive at the underpass before you enter the Armour-Ottley district where SweetWater Brewery is located.

    • Traffic control will be present during the entire time as well as overnight to allow for the concrete to cure.
    • One lane of traffic will be open at all times!!
    • Rain Dates: Friday, March 31-Sunday, April 2, 2023
The Long Term Solution includes a confirmed concrete repaving of the Armour Drive underpass  into Armour-Ottley district as well as a storm water drain upgrade. READ MORE DETAILS HERE

We're thankful to Atlanta Department of Transportation's Deputy Commissioner, Allen Smith, and his crew for a site walk on March 8th. From this site walk we identified this first step to resolve a very frustrating and dangerous situation on Armour Drive for business owners, employees and customers of the Armour West district of Piedmont Heights.

THE MARCH 8TH SITE WALK WITH ATLDOT IDENTIFIED MAJOR ISSUES ON ARMOUR DRIVE. Here's what advocacy in action looks like!!

TIRES SAVED FOR NOW: ATLDOT patched the major potholes leading from Armour Drive onto the southbound I-85 ramp.  It's a temporary fix due to that Georgia Department of Transportation owns the ramp and is responsible for it.  Waiting on an update.

BEYOND DANGEROUS!! ONGOING BROKEN DRAIN ON PLASTERS AVE NE that is constantly broken and left open was blocked off the same day by ATLDOT! Thank you to Tom Stokes of Epicity and Merritt Huber of Carolina Lumber for being eyes on the street and joining our walk to express your concerns on behalf of the entire community.

WHAT: Lanes on the Cheshire Bridge over South Fork Peachtree Creek will periodically shift from the east to the west side of the bridge to accommodate upcoming construction activities.
WHERE: Cheshire Bridge NE between Faulkner Road NE and Woodland Avenue NE
WHEN:  Weather permitting, the temporary lane shifts will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, and remain in effect until construction is complete.

    Article from MetroCEO: 3.8.23

Beginning March 7, 2023, the Department of City Planning will introduce Phase 1 of a streamlined permitting process offering reduced wait times for permits, a central point of contact and an improved, user-friendly portal. In this first phase, all permitting customers can submit applications directly into one permitting portal using a menu of application types, links to city maps and ordinances and “how-to guides.” Customers seeking a permit for apartment complexes, condos and townhomes will no longer be required to use a separate access portal, and applicants will have the ability to create their own record, reducing the steps and time to enter an application into the system.

In the coming weeks, customers will begin to see a shift in permitting procedures, including a new service team to guide applicants through the process from submission to issuance. This team will manage application intake, route applications to reviewers and measure project application status and milestones against agreed timelines for each step in the process to ensure projects flow smoothly. These improvements are the result of collaborative efforts by residents, local developers and City agencies with guidance from the Mayor’s Office of Innovation.

“We have been working with our partners to identify opportunities to make the permitting process work for our customers. We’re eager to implement these gradual and continual changes that will have a direct positive impact on the service we provide customers of all scales – from the simplest to the most complex project,” said City Planning Commissioner Jahnee Prince.

Future phases will involve a central portal for all City agencies in the permitting process and online application review to reduce printing costs and improve customer convenience.
